UZBEKISTAN
NSOI first engaged the Government of Uzbekistan in November 2010, and in May 2011 the NSOI team and a broad Uzbek delegation provisionally agreed to a joint action plan.
This joint action plan contains more than 40 priority steps to improve Uzbekistani capabilities to combat nuclear smuggling. In addition to the joint action plan, the delegations also discussed a list of priority assistance projects to support implementation of the joint action plan.
The Government of Uzbekistan is now reviewing the joint action plan for approval to sign it as a government-to- government agreement.
Following approval and signature of the joint action plan, the Government of Uzbekistan will begin to implement the steps it can carry out on its own and the NSOI team will begin to solicit donors for the agreed assistance projects.
