DETAILS OF ASSISTANCE BEING PROVIDED TO NSOI-IDENTIFIED PROJECTS
NEW ZEALAND
New Zealand has provided funding for three NSOI-identified projects through the U.S. Department of Energy’s Second Line of Defense program. In 2007, New Zealand’s contribution supplied a vehicle crossing on the Ukrainian-Russian border with radiation detection monitors and equipment for secondary inspections and funded the installation of the equipment and related training for the personnel.
New Zealand provided similar funding for equipment and training in 2009 to improve border detection capability in Kazakhstan. In 2010, New Zealand supplied radiological monitoring equipment for Boryspol International Airport in Kyiv, Ukraine.
NOTE: This page describes only those assistance efforts that correspond to projects developed by NSOI. For a comprehensive description of each country’s or organization’s full program of anti-nuclear smuggling assistance, please contact that government or organization.
