DETAILS OF ASSISTANCE BEING PROVIDED TO NSOI-DEVELOPED PROJECTS
UN OFFICE ON DRUGS AND CRIME
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Terrorism Prevention Branch (TPB) and NSOI hosted a joint workshop on legislative drafting in Ukraine in March 2008 to strengthen Ukraine's national legislation and against nuclear smuggling and terrorism. UNODC's legal experts, in cooperation with a representative from the U.S. Department of Justice and a broad delegation of Ukrainian experts, developed recommendations for necessary legislative reforms to allow Ukrainian law to fully prosecute all cases of nuclear smuggling, including scams, and to identify the necessary steps to bring Ukraine's laws into compliance with the relevant international conventions on terrorism.
UNODC is also in discussions with the government of Tajikistan whether a similar conference would be useful in Tajikistan.
NOTE: This page describes only those assistance efforts that correspond to projects developed by NSOI. For a comprehensive description of each country’s or organization’s full program of anti-nuclear smuggling assistance, please contact that government or organization.
